Michel Papatakis

Michel Papatakis (1927–2014) was a pioneering Ethiopian filmmaker, director, and cinematographer. Born to an Ethiopian mother and a Greek father, he studied theater in France and earned a master’s degree in film directing in Moscow. He became a towering figure in early Ethiopian cinema, heavily advocating for the stories of the oppressed. His filmography is comprised of one groundbreaking fiction feature film and a collection of significant historical, cultural, and political documentaries. Feature Films .
